What do we mean by the term disabled people :
The term disabled people is used to include all those who experience barriers in accessing education due to having or being considered to have an impairment. This includes
people with physical or sensory impairments
people with specific learning difficulties (such as dyslexia, dyspraxia or AD(H)D)
people with mental health conditions (such as anxiety and depression)
people with autism spectrum conditions
Action points:
advocate for disabled people;
host mentoring sessions during conferences/workshops;
escort attendees that require assistance to the front row of any of the sessions or workshops;
have volunteers to assist during poster sessions - to get them closer to the poster or to provide a chair if
needed for the presenter, etc;
